Phidippides Encino is the premier running shop in Los Angeles.
If you are tired of going to stores where the staff seems to be people who don't really know anything and where no one is REALLY a runner then come visit our award winning store. We have been serving the running community for over 28 years. Owned and staffed by experienced runners, we serve our customers the way we ourselves would want to be served. We take the time to listen to you and find out what foot problems you may have, where you run, what your goals are - we're runners so we want to know! We have run every distance from 5K to the Western States 100 miler. Because of our expertise, we have been invited to teach the shoe portion of the exercise physiology program at Cal State Northridge. We are constantly asked to do shoe clinics for podiatry and physical therapy groups, and groups training for marathons like the LA Roadrunners, Team in Training, Avon and similar programs. Pheidippides (the more correct, original spelling - Phillip is the modern derivative) an Athenian courier, was sent to Sparta to request help when the Persians landed at Marathon. He ran 150 miles in two days. At the conclusion of the battle, he ran the 22 mi (35 km) back to Athens, where he reportedly shouted “Rejoice! We conquer!” and then died of exhaustion.
